Introduction to Sewing Course – Six Weeks – £90

Have you been thinking about learning to sew or to use a sewing-machine or how to get your head around a commercial pattern; or do you want an idea for a gift for someone who would like lessons, then this is the course for you! We will learn shortcuts each week as we do different things.

The course will be taken by, Zee Lanoe, who trained at the London College of Fashion and has 40 years experience sewing wedding and evening wear and many other things.

Week 1 will be an easy week!

You will make a Cushion Cover. (You will need to bring your choice of fabric, 1 metre will be plenty, choose a heavy cotton or curtain fabric)

Week 2 practicing our basic techniques

You will be making a simple apron. (You will need to bring your choice of fabric, 1 metre will be sufficient, choose a cotton fabric)

Week 3 improving on what we have learnt and having a go at zips

Basic tote bag, with zip. (You will need to bring your choice of fabric, 1 metre will be enough, choose a strong cotton fabric or curtain material. Zips will be provided)

Week 4 learning to read patterns and how to fit garments

You will be beginning to make a skirt. (You will need to buy a basic skirt pattern although we will have a few to choose from as well, fabric will be based upon the pattern chosen)

Week 5 Continuing with patterns and practicing previous techniques

Continue with our skirts.

Week 6 Finishing up

We can clarify anything you feel you need to improve, finish off any outstanding pieces and there will be an extra pattern for those of you who have finished everything.
